Doug Puchalla from Gibson guitars stopped by Glendale,AZ recently and told me about a new model acoustic. It's so new,Gibson won't let me show you a picture of it. (No joke.) The Dove Performer is a cutaway dreadnought with a solid sitka spruce top, solid maple back and sides and a white bound ebony fingerboard. The Gibson logo and crown as well as the parallelogram inlays are mother of pearl. It comes stock with a Fishman Prefix T pickup and an ebony nitrocellulose lacquer finish. On the inside it features carved and scalloped top bracing in a 1930's style advanced pattern. In non guitar guy speak,that means it's going to be loud and dynamic! This guitar,completely hand made in Bozeman Montana,should be hitting the street this month.

I played one today at my local SA. Surprizingly good sound and I compared to a J-200, J-45, Songwriter studio and a Hummingbird. The tone was between the Hummingbird and the J-45. I was lucky to get out of the store without buying it.
I agree,a tone in between the Hummingbird and J-45 is about right.I think this one should be a good seller for Gibson.
I walked into Sam Ash to see what's new. Came upon this Gibson Dove Performer. Must have just arrived, it was a little out of tune. I played with it a bit, and it wouldn't lock, so I pulled the strings a bit... Pop!!! The 6 and 4 strings were not seated properly under the bridge! Gave all the strings a tug and tuned it up. I WOW...COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!!! If my wife wasn't waiting in the car, I would have gone home with it! Been thinking of going back. It sounds huge and its reasonably priced! Didn't get a chance to plug it in, but I'm sure the Fishmen Prefix +T only made it sound better. I was really impressed, Gibson hasn't done much to impress lately, but this is a winner!
