When we last left our Telecaster,it had been outfitted with a Fishman Powerbridge. It's wiring allowed, with a 3-way mini switch and a stereo jack that split into two cables, regular Telecaster controls into one cable, and piezo output with no controls through the other cable. On paper, this makes total sense because many pro players have no volume or tone on their acoustic guitar. In his real life gigging situation, the Tele's owner found it to be less than ideal. Our solution was to install concentric pots, potentiometers that are really two pots, one stacked on top of each other. Bass players will be familiar with this but it's not that common on guitars. Anything I would wire from a volume pot to a tone pot stays the same but the trip is much shorter! I used 250K pots, traditional on a Telecaster and also recommended by Fishman for the piezo. We are definitely straying from the traditional here into a hotrodded look. The best part? The Tele owners parting words..."I'm very happy right now!"

fascinating. I can never get solder to stick, let alone heat shrink, maybe share something about that...
Hey Steve, sounds like you're using the wrong kind of solder. You want a 60/40 rosin core, available at Ace hardware or Radio Shack. An article on soldering basics has been on my mind for a while,so keep checking back. Phil
